Screen Black But Phone Is On? Here's the Cause

Symptom Diagnosis

If your phone is clearly running — you can hear notifications, feel vibrations, or even take calls — but the screen is completely black, this is a very specific hardware failure. Here's what it is and how to fix it.

The Quick Test

Shine a flashlight directly at your screen at an angle.
If you can faintly see the display (icons, text) — it's a Backlight IC failure.
If you see absolutely nothing even with flashlight — it's likely a screen failure or disconnected display cable.
If the screen is cracked and black — screen replacement needed.

Possible Causes & Repairs

Backlight IC failure → Backlight IC repair (RM 180–600, 1–2 days)
Disconnected display cable → Cable reconnection (RM 80–200, same day)
Cracked / shattered screen → Screen replacement (RM 300–1,200, 1–2 hrs)

What Causes Backlight IC to Fail?

Drops — even without visible screen damage, the impact can damage the IC.
