Phone Not Charging? Here's How to Fix It

Symptom Diagnosis

Charging problems range from a simple lint blockage to a failed Charging IC chip. Here's how to diagnose exactly what's wrong before spending money on the wrong fix.

Step 1 — Rule Out the Simple Fixes First

  • Try a different charging cable — cables fail more often than ports.
  • Try a different power adapter.
  • Clean the charging port with a toothpick (gently) — lint is the most common cause.
  • Restart the phone and try again.

Possible Causes & Repairs

  • Lint / debris in port → Professional port cleaning (included in port repair visit)
  • Damaged charging port → Charging port replacement (RM 180–650, 1–2 hrs)
  • Charging IC failure → Charging IC repair (RM 200–700, 1–2 days)
  • Degraded battery → Battery replacement (RM 180–600, 30–60 min)
  • Water damage → Water damage repair (RM 200–800, 1–3 days)

Signs It's the Charging IC (Not the Port)

  • Port looks clean but still won't charge.
  • Phone charges on wireless charging but not wired.
  • Phone overheats at the back (not just the port) while charging.
  • Charging percentage goes up and down randomly.
  • Works with some chargers but not others despite all being genuine.

Signs It's Just the Battery

  • Phone charges fine but drains very fast.
  • Battery percentage drops suddenly (e.g., 40% to 5%).
  • Phone shuts off randomly even when charged.
  • Battery health below 80% in settings.
