Face ID Repair Cost in Malaysia (2026)
Last updated:
'Face ID is not available. Try setting up Face ID later.' If your iPhone is showing that message, Apple's answer is usually a whole-unit replacement at four figures. Most Face ID failures are repairable at component level for a lot less. This is one of the few repairs where going to a board-level shop genuinely changes the outcome.
Face ID Repair Cost
- Face ID diagnostic: free. We tell you which component failed before quoting.
- Flood illuminator or proximity sensor repair: RM 250 – RM 400
- Dot projector repair: RM 350 – RM 550
- Front camera module issues affecting Face ID: RM 280 – RM 450
- Water damage to the TrueDepth system: RM 300 – RM 600 depending on spread
Why Face ID breaks
- A drop. The dot projector is fragile and sits at the top of the phone where corners hit.
- Water. Even a small amount reaching the TrueDepth housing kills the infrared parts first.
- A screen replacement done carelessly. The Face ID flex cables tear easily during opening.
- Heat damage from resting the phone on hot surfaces or aggressive drying after a swim.
Why Apple cannot fix it but we can
The TrueDepth components are paired to your iPhone's logic board for security, so Apple's official process does not include repairing the module. Their fix is a replacement phone. Component-level repair works differently: we repair or transplant the failed part while keeping your original paired components intact, so the security pairing never breaks. Your data stays, your phone stays, Face ID comes back.
What cannot be fixed
Honesty section. If the dot projector's internal laser array itself is shattered rather than its cable or driver, options narrow, and a small percentage of water-damaged systems are too far gone. That is maybe one case in ten. The free diagnostic tells you which side you are on before any money changes hands, and if it is unfixable, Face ID's loss does not affect the rest of the phone. You can keep using it with a passcode.
How long it takes
One to two days for most Face ID repairs, since this is microscope work on small flex cables and components. Rush jobs are sometimes possible. Ask.
