Cracked glass or dead module? A quick test

Open the camera app and look at the image, not the crack. If the photo is sharp apart from haze or flare around the cracked area, the sensor underneath is fine and you only need the outer glass replaced. If the image is black, covered in spots, permanently blurry, or the app crashes when you switch to a specific lens, the module itself is damaged. Cracked outer glass left unfixed lets dust and moisture in, so the cheap problem eventually becomes the expensive one.

The shaking or buzzing camera

A camera that vibrates, buzzes audibly, or cannot hold focus has a damaged optical image stabilisation system. OIS suspends the lens on tiny springs and magnets, and a hard drop knocks it out of alignment. No setting fixes this. The module gets replaced, and photos go back to sharp. This is the most common camera failure we see after drops on iPhone Pro models.

Blurry photos without any drop

• Check the obvious first: a dirty lens or a case or third-party lens protector sitting badly.
• Focus hunting in low light is normal behaviour, not damage.
• Blur on one specific lens only (0.5x fine, 3x blurry) points to that module.
• Blur after a beach day or a swim is early moisture damage. It gets worse, not better.
